Restorative Sound & Cacao
Nov

Restorative Sound & Cacao

As the days become shorter and the nights become longer, we go from enjoying the light of the sun to channeling our own light within to make it through the darkest part of the year. Drawing on your inner light as the winter solstice approaches involves aligning with the natural cycle of rest, reflection, and renewal. Just as the sun's light begins its rest, allowing night to take over the majority of our day, you can cultivate and nurture your own inner light to carry you through the darker months.

As a community, we will settle into a cozy, candlelit space and invite introspection and stillness. Allowing sweet and supportive yoga postures to aid us in releasing anything no longer serving us and renewing our commitment to self-love and compassion. Understanding that we are of nature and embracing the cycles of our growth and rest because aligning with the natural world can help us ground ourselves and strengthen our spirit. With less sunlight during these days, focusing on self-care is essential for sustaining your physical and spiritual well-being.

This offering will begin with ceremonial cacao but if you prefer to bring your own beverage, such as tea, please do! The beans are purchased from Atucún Chocolatería, located in Comayagua, Honduras. Atucún works directly with various cacao producers located throughout Honduras, and the cacao trees are grown sustainably in polyculture. The beans are then roasted and refined into cacao by Ryan DeLuca in Grand Rapids, MI. Cacao is pure chocolate and medicinal for our whole selves, mind, body, and spirit. It is a natural heart opener, and we will use it intentionally in our meditation practice to deepen the experience. Cacao is also a superfood that increases blood flow throughout our body, lowers blood pressure, and helps tissue cells receive nutrients to heal.

After receiving the Cacao, Emily will guide you into sweet and relaxing restorative postures while Liberty provides healing sounds and vibrations via crystal bowls, chimes and various instruments to inspire relaxation and peace. Restorative yoga poses are completely supported by the floor and made comfortable by the use of blankets and bolsters. This yoga is sweet and accessible for all activity levels.
A sound bath helps quiet the mind by shifting your focus from constant thoughts to soothing sounds. This deep listening activates the parasympathetic nervous system—your body’s natural rest-and-recharge mode—which supports healing, relaxation, and recovery.
Most of us only access this healing state during sleep, so spending 90 minutes in a sound bath gives your body extra time to restore and reset. Through carefully layered tones, harmonies, and instruments like crystal bowls and soft rain sounds, your body begins to "tune" itself into balance.
Many people report better sleep, reduced stress, and a deep sense of calm that can last for days afterward. It’s a powerful and peaceful reset for the mind, body, and spirit.
Please be there at least 15 minutes early and consider bringing your own mug as we are trying to reduce our waste! Bring all the items that will bring you comfort. A yoga mat, blanket, crystals, and eye pillows are all great options!

Auricular Acupuncture & Yoga Nidra

Treat yourself to a deep, relaxing, and healing afternoon. Join Rhonda R. and Joyce B. for a one-hour workshop. Rhonda will guide you through a yoga nidra while Joyce pins your ears. You'll be sure to leave feeling pened out.

Auricular Acupuncture

Chinese medicine believes that the human body has an extensive and complex energy system that flows through it. When this system is in balance and healthy, it is healthy, but interruptions and blockages in it cause stagnation and disease. Acupuncture is a technique that allows free-flowing energy and restores balance to the body.

Acupuncture for the ears can help alleviate:

Allergies - anxiety - arthritis - chronic pain - depression - detox of impurities - fibromyalgia - headaches - insomnia - smoking cessation - cravings - stress

Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation technique, done comfortably, usually lying down. Using a variety of breath, body, and awareness practices, you are guided into deep levels of relaxation, peace, and stillness.

In this state, between wakefulness and sleep, the nervous system can come into balance, and long-held habits, limiting beliefs, and harmful patterns can be released spontaneously and effortlessly, bringing healing to the
body, mind, and spirit.

In this place of relaxation, we disconnect from THINKING and reconnect with BEING, a non-doing state where profound transformation can take place without effort. Yoga Nidra is deeply replenishing to the body. In fact, it is said that 45 minutes of Yoga Nidra is as restorative as 3 hours of sleep!

What Yoga Nidra can help with:

– Stress - Anxiety – Overwhelm – Depression – Trauma (both recent and past) – PTSD – Insomnia – Addictions – Brain Injuries – Unhelpful Habits – Relationship Struggles – Grief – Chronic Pain – Chronic Illness – Other Issues that Bring Discomfort or Suffering

Preconception Conversation

Preconception conversation is a workshop style meet up for those who are on the journey to conception. Preconception is an important time that often gets overlooked. There are ways to prepare physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and it’s never too early to be intentional about a future pregnancy. Also referred to as ‘sound medicine’, ’sound meditation’, ’sound journeying’, and ’sound bathing’, sound healing is founded upon ancient, multicultural practices as well as modern research, demonstrating how matter vibrates at varying frequencies that can be rapidly altered through sound waves.

Sound healing works by affecting the autonomic nervous system, activating a healthy balance of parasympathetic engagement, and reducing sympathetic overdrive. This nervous system balance slows your breathing, heart rate, and brain waves, which can lead to a very deep state of relaxation and cellular healing.

“You can look at disease as a form of disharmony. And no organ system in the body’s not affected by sound and music and vibration.”

Lunar Restoration

Treat yourself to the healing powers of cacao, sound, and restorative yoga under the full moon with Liberty Glaser and Emily Rogers.

***Pre Registration would be greatly appreciated as we will have to purchase the cacao prior to the event.

The full moon can be looked at as a representation of something at its full brightness. Something that has gone through many phases in which to be that way. Each phase is just as beautiful and meaningful as the one before it. After the moon finds its fullest expression, it will slowly move its way back to the new moon. The moon is a great visualization of the natural way of all living things; expansion and contraction. In order to be expanded or at our full brightness, we must contract. Contract simply means a place of rest. The demand from society and the expectations we put on ourselves to go, go, go make it difficult for the less than seven hours of sleep the average American gets each night to be sufficient rest to restore our bodies. Our bodies will often find the energy in other places, like placing our nervous system in a constant state of hyper-arousal/sympathetic nervous system which is unhealthy for the mind and body. We must find the moments in our lives to rest, restore, relax, resource, into the parasympathetic nervous system so it can refuel and we can move back towards expansion in a healthy and natural way. Rarely do we afford the acts of relaxation, rest, comfort. They become special treats we give ourselves on our birthdays, rather than something we do regularly just because we know we need in order to operate at our best. So it takes steps of radical self-love to give ourselves these moments.

Let’s explore what self-love and rest can feel like in community. Allow yourself to tap into your parasympathetic nervous system and restore yourself to your full brightness.

This offering will begin with ceremonial cacao. Restorative yoga poses are completely supported by the floor and made comfortable by the use of blankets and bolsters. This yoga is sweet and accessible for all activity levels.

Please be there at least 15 minutes early and consider bringing your own mug as we are trying to reduce our waste! Bring all the items that will bring you comfort. A yoga mat, blanket, crystals, and eye pillows are all great options!
